This was such a sigh-worthy romance!
Veronica (Nica) is an up-and-coming wedding planner who had her heart broken when her boyfriend went to Paris and fell in love with someone else. As if that isn't bad enough, he then asks her to plan his wedding! Even worse (could it GET any worse?), she's stuck spending time with Levi, her ex's best friend that he despises. It shares at least a few aspects with the movie French Kiss (which I adored), but is absolutely a story all its own.
To start, I really enjoyed the earlier interactions between Nica and Levi, when he was just the arrogant, French bad boy that drove her crazy and she just couldn't stand him. Even then, their chemistry was pretty obvious and it was HOT! I just loved the way that things started to fall together for them and how they built up.
I also loved how this wasn't a story you would necessarily expect - there was no animosity between almost anyone, which made things really pleasant!
There is love and magic in Paris and that was my favorite part of this. I've never (yet) been to Paris, but felt the city come to life in this story.
This wasn't as focused on the job of a wedding planner as I would have expected, and I'm not necessarily sure about the "confessions", but the aspects of the planning and wedding events added some great sprinkles. The titles of each chapter being parts of a wedding (The Groom, The Cake, etc.) was a really cute touch too.
I found this to be a sweet & sexy, charming escape that is a great choice for fans of chick lit!
